The break I never thought possible

Anniversary Breakfast

Although I have had no chemotherapy treatment for 4 weeks now I feel relatively OK, a little tired at times but I'm ok. We had cause to celebrate these past few days more about that later.

I want you to try understand something first, seeing the same four walls minute by minute, hour after hour, day after day, week after week and month to month is proving very difficult for me when I'm at my lowest I don't see past the bedroom. It's seriously starting to get this ever positive person down, this is not a healthypositionto be in I needed to try do something. Going to Maggies the cancer charity at Velindre helps and i saw a gentleman who has his stoma and is managing well,

We went to visit Debs cousin Sally and Glen the other day and her uncle Richard and auntie Sue later the same day Been a while since we saw them all so pleased we did. When I got home I was so shattered. Sleeping is an issue I can't get a full night's sleep I'm not running and have lost some weight. I'm not really exercising so I think this is why I'm not sleeping.

Deb and Kirsty came home from work the other week and I was hugging the toilet upstairs being really sick which lasted into the bedroom Deb by myside all the way. Kirsty and Deb taking turns to empty the bucket. We must remember how difficult cancer is for our loved ones

I went for my CT and MRI scans this week at Velindre didn't take long me and Deb was was told if scans come back good and tumours have reduced significantly we will go straight to surgery.  The team called me the next day told me my CT scan has come back good! No signs of any new tumours still need to wait for MRI scan results. These will be ready in a few more days.

I asked the care team if they'd allow me to go out of the county for a short holiday before any surgery takes place. I need a break the team said they'd get back to me in a while and they did, I had just come back from seeing my boss in work when I was told I can go on holiday. So we are going for a short break.

Deb and I celebrated 29 years of marriage on the 19th 2 grown up daughters 2 handsome grandsons we've done well. I booked 2 nights in the Celtic Manor resort as a treat.

Then on Wednesday we flew to Turkey 🇹🇷 for the break I didn't think possible. Yes we paid to much yes the insurance was mental but we need this as much as I need the treatment.

I am writing this blog from the beach of our hotel in Turkey 🇹🇷

and I feel great. I'm ready for whatever is coming my way when we get home. I was also pleased to hear a friend and former work colleague has had his operation with great success. He is now cancer free, Dean I look forward to our catch up

When I get home I am booked in for bloods and 2 consultations both of which will determine my treatment going forward but for the next week I'm going to enjoy The holiday I didn't this was possible.
