Radiotherapy treatment
Because of the complications suffered during my 1st bout of chemotherapy it was decided I would commence with radiotherapy and chemotherapy would be paused. Radiotherapy would consist of 5 treatments 1 every day Would only last about 25 minutes these would take place at the Velindre hospital.
I went into radiotherapy not expecting too much wondering what side effects if any I would get If any the only ones I did get was extreme tiredness and fatigue had some discomfort whilst going to the toilet and still showing signs of blood in my stalls. I have now had all 5 treatments and the team have been amazing letting me take photos and video of the equipment used so I can share with others.
So treatment pauses now I wait until the 6th of July when we meet with the care team at Velindre hospital where we will discuss the the treatment going forward, it looks like perhaps chemotherapy will start on the 8th of July but I have bloods on the 6th of July and that will determine whether we do indeed start with chemotherapy. How am I feeling? Bit nervous about chemotherapy obviously. But I know I won't be bringing the part of chemotherapy home with me that caused me to have heart problems.
So I have 13 day now to let my body recover from radiotherapy and before any treatment resumes, hopefully in the meantime I'll be well enough to get out in about. I have so much been missing my running group and I'd love to join them.
Amy's house move went well last Saturday wish I was able to help more than I can. Anton went to his 1st school trip today (23rd June) he went to longleat safari park hope he's having a great time. Deb and Kirsty are both back in work and all taking it in turns to check in on me of which I'm grateful. Debs work have equally been amazing support to us and to Deb & Kirsty in particular, I can't thank them enough.
I am going to spend my well time campaigning for all public and staff toilets to display the symptoms poster. I have had great feedback from the Welsh Parliament, The Celtic Manor, premier inn, Travelodge, Easyjet, Tui airlines, Shelter Cymru, My local councillor, Cardiff Millennium centre to name a few. If they get I'm touch with Bowel Cancer UK they will work with them. I'm excited to too their ontheroll campaign going from strength to strength and I asked Andrex toilet tissue to get onboard and they have.
